***A song concerning homelessness and drug addiction***
Lyrics:
Welcome to the Mud World
Ain't this the life?
We only ask for all you hold dear
Get 'em all boy, get 'em while they hot
Hit 'em up in a parking lot
Get stoned have fun buy a ball, go heavy tonight
Feelin' low, don't trip, there's a fall
Dosin' up in a bathroom stall
The only thing he wants to behold: Damndest delight
He gonna get him some
Out of the alley way
He's gonna step down to the level of degenerate mud people
Down at the river trail in his spot
In a tent it's his Camelot
The gangrenous throne rules over all, heaping with blight
A wailing husk that begs for relief
On his knees, he's the muddy prodigy
The transformation soon to complete, can he deny?
He gonna get him some
Out of the alley way
He's gonna step down to the level of degenerate mud people
I'll walk away while the others stay a while, I'll be the one
Anesthetize the light inside their minds and then, I'm often left to wonder
That same old rime not worthy of time because I felt the roaring thunder
Tear through the sky of thoughts and dreams of mine
I know I'll be the one
Author's note: In my town when the homeless crisis really hit hard several years back, most of the vagrants lived down at the river that flows through town. We started calling them "River People," but found that term was too endearing. We renamed them "Mud People." This song is basically about a lad being summoned to the Mud World with the enticing glow of drugs and substance indulgence. As the song progresses he finds himself from good, to shit show. Finally ending up in a tent on the river. The song drastically changes at the end, and our subject finds himself getting out and getting his shit together before he makes his "full transformation" to a Mud Man. So there is a theme of redemption, which in reality is powerful rare concerning this theme.
