U.S. and RUSSIA Navy nearly Collides in Philippine Sea, while China keeps Expanding

The USS Chancellorsville on Friday morning avoided a near-collision with Russian destroyer Udaloy, in the Philippine Sea,.

with the ships coming between 50 to 100 feet of each other, according to a 7th Fleet statement.

While Chancellorsville was recovering its helicopter on a steady course and speed when the Russian ship DD572 maneuvered from behind and to the right of Chancellorsville accelerated and closed to an unsafe distance of ~50-100 feet.

This unsafe action forced Chancellorsville to execute all engines back full and to maneuver to avoid.

Russia has voiced a protest to the US command after its cruiser hindered the passage of the Admiral Vinogradov destroyer some 50 meters in front of it,

forcing the vessel to perform a dangerous maneuver, the Pacific Fleet’s press service told reporters on Friday.

China has quietly undertaken more construction and reclamation in the South China Sea, recent satellite images show, and is likely to more reassert its claims over the waterway soon.
