Possessing an accurate "mental map" of your environment, an understanding of your surroundings which aligns with reality, often means the difference between death and survival while in the wilderness. That same reality / truth based mental map is also required to survive the world we currently find ourselves in: culturally, physically, psychologically, economically, et al. In other words, if your "mental map" is not up-to-date and accurate in incorporating all the information available to you, you might just find yourself making unforgiving mistakes at the worse possible time.
