The lovely Julia and I are off in search for a 1930s folly cum domestic dwelling. If you have 1.3 million you too could live in a water tower hidden in the woods.
The Water Tower in question was part of the Warpingthorn Estate, built as both a folly and utilitarian building, but I gather is now a domestic property in its own right.
What makes it unusual is the open stair case on the outside that encircles the edifice rather like a helter skelter.
On our way, we discover a Second World war Auxiliary Hideout, probably set up by the British in case Wiston House was taken by the invading Germans.
