A crucial difference between the pawns and the controllers is that everything the pawns do in life either furthers the aims of the controllers or has no effect at all. The controllers really enjoy watching the ignorance of the public to their nefarious long-term schemes.

I'm continually impressed by Scott's level of psychological understanding. Others don't recognize it's all an act. They actually buy into it.
