Officers had pulled over Medina’s son, a 20-year-old man, on the Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown for having a suspended license and driving a vehicle with an expired state inspection sticker.
At some point during the stop, Medina arrived at the scene and “became aggressive toward the officers,” Nassau County police said.

Medina spat at the officers and used a crutch she was walking with to strike one of them, according to police.
She was taken into custody and transported to Nassau University Medical Center for evaluation.
Police said Medina remained “violent and combative” while in custody at the hospital. She punched an officer in the face and damaged the body-worn camera they were wearing.
Multiple officers ultimately suffered injuries trying to arrest Medina, police said.
She was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, obstructing governmental administration and three counts of harassment.
She was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
