Traditionally, murder was punished by death: but how much worse is heresy which sends many more into eternal death? The crime of heresy brings not only death, but also fire, torture, misery, slavery of demons, despair & total absence of God - forever and ever. This is why the church traditionally considered heresy as a capital crime, & has always described heresy as "the gates of Hell" & those gates into Hell are "the death-dealing tongues of heretics". It is the duty of the state to propagate the true religion & quell heresy accordingly.
