"For many guerrillas, their first encounter with the Rhodesian army, is often their last."
An incredible documentary covering the Rhodesian Military forces and the casualties they endured.
A group of 20,000 men (4,000 full time) that policed a 2,000 mile border.
They discuss the lack of conscription and the inability of the Army to take on all the prospective volunteers.
Their basic training was 6 months. They discuss and show the 2 Black and 2 White Fire Force companies.
One of the only documentaries that actually shows the African Rifles and their contribution to the war effort.
1/2 of the Army was paratroop trained with over 10,000 operational jumps. Many units had parachuted into direct combat over 40 times. At each encounter, the terrorist bodies are flown back to Salisbury and they are fingerprinted and forensic analysis of their weapons are done to see if they were involved in any earlier confrontations.
I've shown Nick Downie's award winning combat footage from the 1970's Rhodesian Bush War.
This is the film he made of it. This is the best film you will see of actual combat footage during the Rhodesian bush wars.
His film partner, Lord Richard Cecil died making this documentary.
