It is important to note that CJE was formally invited by Senior Attorney Bob Buckley to address the JC a month earlier, when 60 people from 16 different counties protested at the JC HQ, asking for either a public hearing or a private meeting with the Chair of the Judicial Council. In other words, the JC knew that dozens of people were coming to share their concerns, yet they limited public comments to a mere 30 minutes total, showing a true lack of regard for what the public has experienced in their courts.
What's furthermore noteworthy is, that the last 2 speakers at this hearing try reassure that there is no problem regarding corruption or anything similar whatsoever and even slandering the CJE for the issues brought up by it's members and branding them even as dangerous, and the very last speaker is one of the few ones that was granted 2 minutes instead on one, resulting in an extensive last closing defending the courts, interesting, isn't it.. coincidence?
NOTE- Despite the well-publicized rules for public comment, Justice Miller actually refused to allow ANY public comment on the second day of this 2-day meeting, even to members of the public who had not spoken the day before. Self-represented litigants and others who wanted to speak on specific agenda items on Day 2 were told that "you had your say yesterday, and in order to have a more balanced meeting, a decision was made to not allow anyone from the public to speak." It will be interesting to see what this powerful body decides to do to squelch the truth when the public descends on their December 11 & 12 meetings.
