Thanks to a comment on one of my earlier Leonard Cohen covers I went looking for another song to do.

I had heard this a few times on my 'Songs of Love and Hate' LP, but didn't like the angry tone. Then I found this live version, which I much prefer:

I'm sure there are many English Literature theses written trying to explain the lyrics here. Is it about the crucifixion, is it about drugs, it is about false piety, is it about sex with hunchbacks? Like many of Leonard's songs, you feel like you have been told something very profound, but can't quite put your finger on what it is.

Apologies to jonl1973 for my abuse of your photo of Leonard playing Edinburgh in 2008 but I couldn't find any photos of him with a ukulele.
