Himeko Sutori , Blurry World with Focus on Tactical RPG Goodness
Disclosure: This game copy was bought by the reviewer. The reason the video ended suddenly at the end was the game received a render error that crashed the game.
Three sisters take on the weight of their kingdom as their nation is attacked by a well known third party. Leading an assortment of adventurous with a number of classes to build into, they must discover the purpose of the world gates and find out why their family is being hunted. I will go ahead and mention the game world is blurry beyond belief in most aspects. It doesn't help you can't zoom out far enough in town or during combat, so you must try to examine the nearby terrain by scrolling randomly. Usually you would expect a enemy indicator, but that isn't the case. Combat is also automated in terms of who your units attack and skills being used, but positioning and deciding on melee or ranged attacks are left to the player. This makes the lance make ups very important, trying to balance a good assortment of class archetypes to ensure proper healing, decent tanking and enough damage output to take out your enemies. As far as leveling goes, I am still on the fence with the random nature of the card system. You get three cards with random stat increases, skills, or new classes that could include something from a different build, such as increased melee damage for a character you are trying to build as a ranged unit. Early on this doesn't feel like an issue, but I can't tell how this could effect late game if you keep getting dealt useless stats for the unit.
Movement is a bit frustrating. I have been getting stuck against objects or behind NPCs and needed to brute force myself past the issues. You can also be forced to auto-run when entering a dialog option with NPCs. I experienced a few crashes (one seen at the end of this video), but the optimization was smooth during my current time playing it.
No final verdict yet since the build on sale is suppose to have 6 hours of content, so I need to finish ..
