I got reminded of this and realized that SNL skits from over 30 years ago where there was a habitual liar speaking on behalf of the government is now more believable than what we have today.

At this point, people who believe the US government must still believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. It would be nice if they didn't lie to us like idiots, I wish they'd just lie to us like we had an IQ over 90. I'd settle for that.
