The Hard Facts don't care about your feelings

When there is only one event that cannot be discussed in any meaningful way, affecting one people who are so fragile they cannot bear criticism it is time to look more closely. "Say what you like, it's a free country!" used to be something regularly said in Britain. Not any more. The days of telling jokes, of meeting in taverns, of free movement are over. We have heard lots of tall tales over the years, Germans eating babies, of Iraqi soldiers turfing newborns out of incubators to die on the floor and the incubators stolen back to Baghdad. You can deny that a man-God Jesus lived, you can deny the crucifixion, mock him as a zombie. You can deny that there indigenous population of Great Britain, you can pour scour and hatred in white northern Europeans but you may not question the Holy H or deny the magic number. There were many grotesque and ridiculous stories spread by rumour and Soviet propaganda during and after WW2 - of soap made of human fat, of lampshades made of human skin, of florrs made of rotating knives of dastardly masturbation machines where poor Jewish boys were wanked to death - all tales earnestly told accepted as gospel because 'survivors' or people pretending to be told them. These grim fairy tales have all been quietly dropped , the fire pits , the rollercoasters...but one fantastical tale remains, defying mathematics and scientific investigation with the big magic number.
