Police arrested a number of demonstrators who blocked roads and set tires on fire. Around thirty drivers briefly blocked the M-40 bypass in Madrid near the Ifema Congress Centre, where a major tourism fair is currently taking place, early in the morning.

Taxi drivers are protesting against what they see as unfair competition from Uber and other ride-sharing services that do not face the same rules and taxes as they do. At least eleven people, including five policemen, were injured in collisions on Wednesday.
