We explore the largest naturally occurring explosion, which sent shock waves around the world and is known as the Tunguska event of 1908 in Siberia. Still to this day there is uncertainty as to the true nature of the incident and its possible implications concerning the expectations should such an event again take place. Our investigation suggests one explanation that the explosion was caused by the impact of a comet fragment or other ice-rich body that exploded about the ground, in as much as there was no crater nor impact material left behind on the ground.
