It is time for #apologies. #Germany has apologized to Namibia. #France has recognized its « responsibility » in the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda in 1994. Because, when African tribes massacre each other, it’s all because of Europeans, and White people in general. If Europeans go to Africa to help, it’s imperialism and white supremacy. If they don’t get there and help, it’s racism and white supremacy. Whatever Europeans do or don’t do in Africa, Africans feel entitled to blame Europeans and White people.
Although Europeans have indeed been involved in Africa, is it decent behavior from the countries to demand apologies for conflicts that emerged between locals in the first hand ? Africa is once again blaming the White devils for its own wrongs. Will this path lead Africa to peace and development ?
Although apologies from European countries won’t bring anything to African countries, it is surely a sign of weakness for European countries and the most direct path to justify « reparations ». What kind of reparations ? Where does that narrative end ? Should every and each country provide reparations to those they have harmed in on way or another in the past history ? What about present history ?
