I believe this applies only to the Delta variant. If you develop natural immunity to Delta, you probably won't catch it again, but you probably *can* be infected by other variants.
When you are infected to a whole virus, however, you will develop a broader immunity for the whole virus, whose body consists of 30 proteins, from what I read. With the vaccine you are only exposed to the one protein out of 30, the spike protein. So, each time you are infected with a variant, you should be developing a much broader immunity can you can get from the vaccine.
I had Covid before the vaccine was available and it was a very mild case. I had it a second time and it was very mild the second time, too. So, even though I am a senior, I don't have serious health issues and don't feel I am at high risk. For that reason I prefer to remain unvaxxed, continue to be exposed to the virus and gradually develop a much broader resistance to the virus than I believe the vaccine can provide.
I don't think this cold virus is suddenly going to morph into something like Smallpox, polio or Ebola. If I felt that I am at very high risk, I would take the vaccine.
