This comes as concerns continue to grow from both the federal Opposition and the subscription television industry about the Albanese government's push to control the order in which apps are displayed on smart televisions.

The controversial changes are yet to be finalised by the Communications Minister but may result in viewers being dictated to by Labor on how they search for content.

“We all pay for our own TVs – on average $1900 – and they’re at the centre of our homes,” Mr Delany told Sky News Australia.

“They’re deeply personal, they’re not dissimilar to your mobile phone and it’s not surprising that Australians don’t want the government meddling.

“In fact, 80 per cent of Australians – and this is also not surprising – feel they’re the ones that should dictate where apps and channels and everything go on their TVs.”
