At around midnight on 1/31 - 2/1/22 I was turned away and denied entry to Canada at the Niagra Falls border, even though I had a negative PCR test from within 16 hours, a letter from a social worker confirming a family member's death, information for the funeral coordinator, and an application for compassionate entry submitted through their online portal (paper copy on my person).
Checked my email after returning home and apparently they denied my application for compassionate entry the same day at 4:55pm saying I didn’t have an address for the burial grounds and had to reapply from the beginning. They didn't call me or ask the funeral coordinator whose number and card I had provided along with the address of the mosque. Just straight up denied.
Here’s the kicker - they proceeded to call me from an 8xx number multiple times a day the following week and sent emails asking if I was quarantining after entering Canada. So they have all the HR and manpower to do that but couldn’t give me a call about the original application which would have maybe allowed for it to be resolved / approved the same day. They quote a 7 day turnaround to discourage people from even trying.
This video was taken on Feb 13, 2022 after I already told one caller I never got into Canada due to their nonsensical policies.
