A group of private citizens, known as The United Constitutional Patriots (UCP), formed an armed militia in New Mexico to help the Border Patrol fight the recent surge in illegal immigration. The militia temporarily arrests illegal aliens, via citizens-arrest, who are crossing the New Mexico border illegally. The group allegedly holds the illegals until the real Border Patrol arrives. A member of the group explains to FOX news that they get along great with the Border Patrol. Now the ACLU is accusing Trump’s administration of influencing “white nationalists and fascists to flagrantly violate the law.” After the ACLU complained, one of the leaders of the UCP was arrested, but on charges of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, not for helping the Border Patrol capture illegal aliens. On April 18th, the New Mexico Border Patrol made headlines after they reported an arrest of 720 illegal aliens in the course of just one day.
