This is the 2nd track from our 18th EP. Aside from the single and album artwork by Wire, we feature 3 additional photographs - these show the remains of the Penlee narrow gauge railway in Devon, taken by Julie Travis. Note: if you type 'UNIT' followed by 'Wire' you will discover over a dozen covers we recorded of various tracks by Wire from 2013 to 2020.
I first discovered your music in 1979,
instantly impressed by the variety I heard,
4 talented people whose creativity combined
to produce a kind of pop music I certainly preferred.
Throughout the 1980s you provided for us all
a soundtrack to our lives that we could all appreciate.
It seemed you possessed inspiration at your beck and call,
which is why for each single and album we’d eagerly wait.
What happened to your excellent variety
once your group entered the 21st century?
I think it is really such a shame
that all your modern tracks now sound the same.
One...two...three...four...and stop.
Andy Martin – Vocals, Hammond Organ.
Fabian Fritze – Alto Saxophone, 5 String Bass Guitar.
Colin Murrell – Drums.
Keilan Knight – admirable restraint.

In 2016 we released our 30th album (Fast – Clean – Cheap) and with it an era passed. We realised it is neither necessary nor desirable to continue to issue our work on compact discs. The process is expensive and time consuming (pressing CDs, printing booklets and tray cards, buying jiffy bags, going to the post office – it’s so 1990s) so now Band Camp exists, an avenue is presented by which we can release our work to the public directly. Our projects will be obtainable from this address:
unit-united.bandcamp.com.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The paypal address for our Band Camp and Lulu sites is now [email protected].
In addition there are currently 12 books available. These are proper books in print, not fake, ersatz ‘books’ you see advertised on the internet these days as ‘e-books’. They can be purchased from lulu.com. Type ‘Andy Martin – Grange Hill’ to locate them.
