UAW goes on strike! GM, Ford and Stellantis factories are shut down in the US, as well as Canada. Unifor (formerly CAW) is the Canadian union for auto workers at plants such as Brampton or Windsor will vote on their strike this coming Monday (Sept 18, 2023).
The media is covering the strike however few if any large outlets are talking about what the UAW or Unifor’s list of demands are. So, I find their demands, and go over them.
They are as outlandish as ever, from large pay increases, instant promotions, 30 hour work weeks, guaranteed jobs, pension increases, increased medical coverage, and more.
Yes…I go on a rant on unions in general, not just UAW or Unifor. Both sides are delusional and out of touch. This will only hurt the workers and population at large, that depend on their vehicles.
To be fair, theres a lot going on, and I would not be surprised if Brampton shuts down, the factory that built our Dodge Challengers and Charger, as Stellantis and the others are gearing towards the production of more EVs, despite how the market does not want to adopt them.
CEOs are equally delusional though, as I talk about the attitude and entitlement found on both sides of labor disputes.
Even 45th Pres Donald Trump commented on EVs and UAW workers (which I do in the most awful voice! I tried)
Im sure this will stir up debate, which is never a bad thing.
