What a way to negotiate -‘Please can I have something in the agreement?’ - ‘Of course you can, just sign here.’ - ‘OK, I’ll sign.’ - ’Thank you, that’ll be a ten billion quid cost if you do.’
Now, the EU is desperate to keep selling us all their stuff as well as desperate for any money we can give them, so what incentive do they have for helping this so-called smooth exiting process along now? Then there is the totally Europhile UK establishment to consider, I would bet they would be pleased with every extension to anything they could get, so I reckon they would actually welcome an extension. All the main players who are in the game at the moment would be more than happy to let the situation slide and then let us, the UK taxpayers and consumers, pay whatever it takes to keep the UK firmly under EU control.
And the Remain press are gleefully pointing to it.
This extra time is about achieving a smooth exit, which would benefit both sides - in fact the EU probably has more tied up in a smooth exit than the UK does, given the trade imbalance in their favour. So, in fact money should be flowing the other way and that would be the way to make sure it never happens or is extremely short.
Every day it gets clearer how completely Eurocentric our complete establishment and an increasing amount of the press have become and how disdainful they are of the UK and its people.
