An arrhenius acid and an arrhenius base make salt water. Example: 2HCl + Fe(OH)2 >>> 2H2O +FeCl2.........Notice the H+ comes from the acid and OH- comes from the base to make water. Well when you use a LEWIS base there is no OH........So instead of salt water you still make the salt .............BUT INSTEAD OF WATER YOU MAKE HYDROGEN. 2HCl + Fe >>> H2 + FeCl2
