Ray McGovern and Bill Binney discuss what is known about the Guccifer 2.0 persona, during the #Unity4J Vigil 13.
Ray McGovern, worked as a CIA analyst for 27 years from 1963 to 1990. He chaired National Intelligence Estimates and prepared the President’s Daily Brief. He received the Intelligence Commendation Medal at his retirement but returned it in 2006, to protest the CIA’s involvement in torture. In 2003 Ray co-founded Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)
William Binney resigned from his position as Director for Global Communications Intelligence (COMINT) at the National Security Agency (NSA) after 30 years with the agency, after discovering that his efforts to protect the privacy and security of Americans was being undermined by those above him in the chain of command. He discovered that the NSA data-monitoring program which Binney and his team had developed -- codenamed ‘ThinThread, was not being aimed at foreign terrorist targets as intended, but at Americans (codenamed “Stellar Wind”) and was being mis-used to invade the privacy of ordinary citizens in America and countries all around the world and collect millions of pieces of metadata. William Binney was awarded the Sam Adams Associates Award for Integrity in Intelligence in Berlin, Germany (SAAII) in January 2015, for taking a stand for ethics and integrity.
