Santa Fe Kodachrome 5809 SD45-2 Ho scale

Here is my Santa Fe SD45-2 Kodachrome 5809 Manufactured By Athearn Trains part of their Genesis line which is considered premium item. This is Ho scale (1:87) a Scale down version of the Real thing. This still has Tsunami 1 and incandescent bulbs so those will be replaced with Tsunami 2 EMD 2 and LEDs. Here is a little history on the Paintshceme itself which is again called Kodachrome in the 1980s the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (ATSF or SF) and the Southern Pacific Transportation company (SP) attempted a merger. it began with the of holding companies Santa Fe and Southern Pacific on December 23, 1983 to form the Santa Fe Southern Pacific Corporation (SFSP). However these companies painted these locomotives in there fleets with this paint schemes to fast at the time companies thought when the merger was approved they would add SF on the SP locomotives and the SP on the SF locomotives vice a versa. Anyways The ICC or known as the Interstate Commerce Commission on July 24, 1986 who ruled that such a merger included too many duplicate routes and was therefore monopolistic. The Commission Denied SFSP's Appeal again in a 4-1 vote on June 30, 1987 The Railroad went to court but lost the suit. The railroads had no choice but to not do the merger and had repainted there locomotives in their original paint schemes.
Then the Mid 1990s rolled around Santa Fe Merged with The Burlington Northern Railroad thus forming the BNSF in 1995-1996 the Railroads merged and started at first patching the new marking of B.N.S.F on the locomotives in the fleet then eventually in my opinion painted there newer locomotives in the horrible looking orange paint schemes ewww. well anyways I hope you enjoy this short video.
