San Leandro, CA (near Oakland) 2020 April 18th
San Leandro PD responded to a disturbance at a local Walmart. Upon arrival a guy is waving a baseball bat and threatening bystanders. After attempted negotiations, an officer resorts to tazing the suspect. After being tazed, the suspect continues moving forward with the weapon in a threatening manner, forcing the officer to fire a 9mm round into his torso. After the suspect collapsed from the gunshot wound, the officer repositions the suspects body to reduce bleeding to potentially save his life. The suspect bled to death before EMS arrived.
