Then Colonel Chuck Yeager, USAF did his best to save his NF-104 rocket-assisted fighter plane by deploying his tail chute which didn't work enough to stop his flat spin not shown in this clip from "The Right Stuff". He was caught in a bad situation where his action reaction thruster controls were not enough and as he re-entered thicker air couldn't get his turbines to spin to generate power for his hydraulic controls--a design weakness that could have been anticipated and handled as we would today in a purpose-built Aerospace plane.

IF--we had the RIGHT STUFF to try (yes, "Star Wars" losers, I said TRY) so we can eventually find the RIGHT WAY to "do".
