Cuphead The Delicious Last Course - Playthrough Part 1

After years in the making the DLC for Cuphead finally dropped. It's an extra island with new boss battles. So far there don't seem to be any run and gun levels, but those were not really good in the first place, so I don't miss them. Story-wise Cuphead and Mugman are summoned by Ms. Chalice to help her resurrect herself via a magical cake created by Chef Slatbaker. Now our heroes have to get the ingredients. It took me a while to get back into shape when fighting the bosses, but I kept my original best strategy of having the spread and the chaser shot as my weapons of choice. I decided to play as Ms. Chalice and unfortunately she requires the Astral Cookie to be placed in the charm slot, but she does have her advantages like a double jump and an invincible roll. As far as drawbacks go her counter is the dash instead of the jump, which takes a bit of getting used to and her super move is creating a vertical energy pillar rather than a horizontal one, which makes it tricky to use. Fortunately a lot of the bosses seem to be designed for her play style. They are still pretty tough, but they didn't feel as bullet sponge-y as some of the ones in the main game. After defeating 2 of them I did the King's Leap challenge, which is a a series of bosses where you can only use the counter to damage your opponents. It's a good training on how to utilise it and the fights are pretty creative (even if there are some random elements in some of them). There are also new weapons and relics, but I haven't tested those yet.
