There are 3 recordings of this. The 1st appears on our formative project We Are Your Gods, recorded in 1997. The 2nd we completed in 2015 for the album Fast Clean Cheap. It's the track that closes the album. We recorded it again in 2016 in a radically different arrangement for the album School Playground, again as the final track on Disc 1. Disc 2 contains 2 of my avant garde classical works performed by the Japan Schools Orchestra.
Like a photograph fading into sepia images of yesterday,
capricious fragments scatter my life – a history of decay.
Who will recall the nights of valour, of waving flags,
vainglorious rain soaked days reduced to tattered rags?
Who will write down the words I said?
Will I be remembered when I’m dead?
Like a rusting railway track no longer used except by weeds,
who will remain to write a list of all my glorious deeds?
I have so many memories of the races won,
but are they merely faded pictures in the sun?
Who will write down the words I said?
Will I be remembered when I’m dead?

The pages of my book are withered and torn – the ink has bled,
so of course it seems a shame so much of it was never read.
Who will recall the times I sat and cried alone?
Who will remember all the people I have known?
Who will write down the words I said?
Will I be remembered when I’m dead?
