So this is my first day doing my new program. I am going to try and do more sets with more sub-maximal-ish weight, at varying intensities/weight, so I can try and get more work and practice with higher weights, as opposed to just doing one single AMRAP set, ala 5/3/1. I am also going to try and up the frequency of pressing, by starting with three to four days a week, and will try and gradually increase that as well, as those are what Is struggle with. I am hoping this will help improve technique and overall performance under heavier loads, while also taking a bit of the stress/pressure off having to always try and beat a rep PR, which can contribute to form breakdown. Mainly with the OHP.
My strength and energry was NOT there, on this day. I started with 60 KGs for the first two sets for 2 reps, but they were feeling pretty tough, so I dropped down to 57.5 for another two sets. However, those were ALSO feeling tough. So for the last one, I dropped to 55 KGs, and did three reps instead of two. I just could not get in the zone today, unfortunately. Really off day. I think I will swallow my pride, and do this set next time starting at 55 KGs, and use that across all five sets. I am also trying to do more strict reps, to see if that will help increase my overall pushing strength, and stability.
