Hovinso Kitchen Clock & Digital Cooking Timer

I think we have all used kitchen timers similar to this one but this one is easy and more intuitive to use than others I have tried and the current Amazon price of just £3.49 makes it hard to say no to it.

The kitchen timer arrived packaged in a plain white box with just the device itself inside, no User Guide or other product information was included. The plain packaging is cheap to produce and better for the environment, no doubt, but it does tend to devalue the item and reinforce the budget price tag. It is a pity too that no battery was included as it means the timer will not work straight from the box.

On the front is a large and clear but non-backlit LCD screen. Below are the three operation buttons: M, S and Start/Stop. On the rear is the access panel for the single AAA battery together with a clever multi-mode positioning mount. The mount has a hanging hook, magnetic panel, and kickstand, all of which work well. The build quality of the timer is excellent and nothing looks likely to fail anytime soon.

Due to the lack of instructions, I had thought I might struggle with using the timer but in fact it easy enough to figure out how to operate it. The M and S buttons are used to set the countdown time (with confirmation beeps), the start/stop button begins and ends the timer, press M and S together to reset the timer. With no timer set pressing the Start/Stop button begins a stopwatch timer. When the countdown time is reached the alert sounds, which is loud enough but louder would have been better.

If you need a decent quality, easy to use and budget priced kitchen timer then I doubt you will find one better than this.
