OneTigris 'Hideout' Underquilt outside in the fall

I revisit the OneTigris under quilt in more challenging fall conditions. It was 45 degrees F with raw gusty winds, wind chill of 37 or 38. I started by trying to isolate the UQ as much as possible and not wearing a lot of extra insulation just to see how well it performed. As I cooled down, I added progressively warmer clothing and insulation and finally ended up in my sleeping bag.

Every time I use this gear I learn something new and adopt new practices and ways of getting the most from the experience.

This UQ is rated to 40 degrees, but in my opinion, you'll still need calm winds or a proper shelter/wind break and an over quilt, sleeping bag or other insulation to achieve that. I had hoped this might be made to work in colder winter conditions and I might yet give that a try. As our summers and winters tend to be wet, the bulk of my insulation is synthetic.
