Monologue 1 of 2020, recorded on February 7, 2020, Lifestyles of the Witch and Reclusive: "Extra-Sensory Perception: How to Cope With E.S.P. When You Cannot Turn It Off."
This monologue parallels Sophia's off-the-record monologue, "They're Everywhere. Now What?" which was recorded on December 31, 2019, and the link for this monologue is posted at the WordPress blog, The Occult Files of Sophia diGregorio. The theme of that monologue is the recognition that you are surrounded by those who are, in one way or another, monsters and how to live with this knowledge. It runs parallel to this monologue because having E.S.P. often means, not just seeing the past or the future of a person or place, but that you can read people's energy fields and even hear and see that which is foremost on their minds at the moment along with many other potentially frightening manifestations.
This monologue is inspired, in part, by the 1997 television mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's novel The Shining, which is very focused on the character Danny. Danny is a psychic child whose inherent abilities appear to be activated by the abuses of his alcoholic father. The mini-series adheres more closely to events in the book than the more popular Kubrick major motion picture, and it portrays very well the real-life difficulties of seeing frightening manifestations and having foreknowledge of unfortunate events, but no way to prevent them from happening.
