the lovin' spoonful - younger girl (live) - stereo remix
Edit for headphones, April 2022. A song from the 1999 album "The Lovin' Spoonful Live At The Hotel Seville". I have this only in 192kbps mp3, so not the best sound quality, sorry for that).
The songs were recorded in 1999 during a great, real live performance at the Hotel Seville in Harrison, Arkansas USA.
The original release of "Younger Girl" didn't chart, it is on their 1965 debut album "Do You Believe In Magic". The song's tune and lyrics are based upon "Prison Wall Blues" (1930) by Gus Cannon's "Jug Stompers": https://youtu.be/SfCJLAe9iZo
Personnel on the live album:
Jerry Yester - guitars, vocals;
Joe Butler - vocals, guitars, autoharp, percussion;
Lena Yester - keyboards, vocals;
Steve Boone - bass;
Mike Arturi - drums.
YOUNGER GIRL
(John Sebastian)
she's one of those girls that seems to come in the spring
one look in her eyes and you forget everything
you had ready to say and I saw her today, yeah
younger girl keeps a'rolling 'cross my mind
no matter how much I try
I can't seem to leave her mem'ry behind
I remember her eyes, soft dark and brown
said she'd never been in trouble or even in town
younger girl keeps a'rolling 'cross my mind
no matter how much I try
I can't seem to leave her mem'ry behind
yeah a younger girl keeps a'rolling 'cross my mind
I should have hung around acting like a brother
in a few more years they'd call us right for each other
and why, if I wait I'll just die, yeah
younger girl keeps a'rolling 'cross my mind
no matter how much I try
I can't seem to leave her mem'ry behind
I remember her eyes, soft dark and brown
said she'd never been in trouble or even in town
younger girl keeps a'rolling 'cross my mind
she's one of those girls that seems to come in the spring
one look in her eyes and you forget everything
you had ready to say and I saw her today, yeah
