Albrecht Dürer was an important figure in the German renaissance in the 15th and 16th century. Being famous for being one of the first people to practice painting self-portraits. His works inspired many other renaissance era painters such as Titian and Parmigianino. Dürer's painting were also used by biologists to re-create pig breeds that would have existed in the 15th and 16th centuries, being named "Albrecht Dürer pigs"
He's also credited with inventing ray-tracing in his paintings, which inspired the modern day technique of the same name in computer graphics.
