I had a photography exhibit at my local library in February 2019 and then again from May 1 to June 1, 2019. The exhibit was a juxtaposition between the beauty of the Saskatchewan prairie and the horror and ugliness of the open oil flaring and oil production that is going on there.

Please support the ending of toxic, open-air oil flaring!
A 2015 audit of 43 oil wells in Saskatchewan found poisonous H2S gases being released at an average of 30,000 ppm. http://www.crudepower.jschool.ca/index.php/air
Allowable limit = 10 ppm
Lethal level = 1,000 ppm
The highest level of H2S gas found being released in the audit was 150,000 ppm.
The Saskatchewan government claims it has found no regulatory breaches with the oil industry that need to be followed up on by them.
There is absolutely criminal flaring of poisonous gases (H2S being only one of them) going on in Saskatchewan and across the prairies!
The oil industry is cutting corners to maximize its own profits at the expense of human and animal health. Rather than burning and releasing poisonous gases around people's homes and businesses via open-air oil flares, the oil industry could capture the gases and use them for other purposes. Continuing the toxic and dangerous practise of open oil flaring is criminal - morally if not legally.
Oil flares have been linked to everything from miscarriages to birth defects to cancer to heavy metals poisoning. Not a coincidence, there is a high incidence of cancer and autoimmune disorders like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and chronic inflammation/pain in my home area of Saskatchewan.
