Es waren 143 Polizisten und 67 Bundespolizisten vor Ort. In der Nacht stellt die Polizei 71 mal Personalien fest. 1000 der Männer aus dem nordafrikanischen Raum waren zwischen 15 und 35 Jahre alt. Es gab 10 Platzverweise, 5 Festnahmen und 11 vorläufige Festnahmen. Insgesamt liegen 1222 Anzeigen vor, wovon 513 wegen sexueller Übergriffe (5 Anzeigen wegen vollendeter Vergewaltigung und 16 wegen versuchter Vergewaltigung). Es gibt 1310 mutmaßliche Opfer, davon 662 wegen sexueller Übergriffe. Gegen 333 Beschuldigte ist ein Verfahren eingeleitet, davon 87 wegen sexueller Übergriffe. Bei 267 Gerichtsverfahren sind 124 Verfahren eingestellt, 80 wegen nicht hinreichenden Tatverdachts. Weitere 29 Gerichtsverfahren wurden eingestellt, weil die Verdächtigen bisher nicht auffindbar waren, können aber jederzeit wieder aufgenommen werden. Bisher gab es 35 Anklagen, 24 Verurteilungen, wovon 18 rechtskräftig sind, bei 5 Angeklagten ging es um sexuellen Nötigung. Es gibt noch 820 Ermittlungsverfahren, die gegen unbekannte Täter eingeleitet wurden, davon 372 wegen sexueller Übergriffe. Sylvester-Aufrüstung in Köln in 2016 1500 Polizisten, 600 Bundespolizisten und 600 Sicherheitskräfte, dazu ein Knallerverbot, komplette Ausleuchtung des Platzes, Video-Überwachung und die Hohenzollernbrücke wird für Fussgänger gesperrt.
