📺 THE TIME MASTERS - LES MAITRES DU TEMPS (1982) | ENGLISH DUB
"The long lost English dub of Maitres du Temps, aka Time Masters! The English dub of this film was only broadcast twice, on British TV in the 80s, and has never been commercially released. This version has been pieced together using a Russian DVD edition of the film, and the audio from a VHS recording of one of the 80s broadcasts.
I created this dub myself, I did not create the source material and do not own the copyright for this film. This was a definite passion project!
Update: There now seems to be a very high quality English dub of this film going around on YouTube - I'm not sure where it came from (has it been released on BluRay?!) but it's rendered this version pretty pointless. Which isn't a bad thing, because my version definitely had some obvious issues! Hooray!
Update 2020: at some point the copyright holders of the music from the end credits dropped their claim on any video that contained that music - it meant this video was offline for many years but is back now. Hooray!"

Les Maîtres du temps (lit. The Masters of Time, a.k.a. Time Masters, Herrscher der Zeit in German, Az idő urai in Hungarian) is a 1982 Franco-West German-Swiss-British-Hungarian animated science fiction feature film directed by René Laloux and designed by Mœbius. It is based on the 1958 science fiction novel L'Orphelin de Perdide (The Orphan of Perdide) by Stefan Wul.
The film centres on a boy, Piel, who is stranded on Perdide, a desert planet where giant killer hornets live. He awaits rescue by the space pilot Jaffar, the exiled prince Matton, his sister Belle and Jaffar's old friend Silbad who are trying to reach Perdide and save Piel before it is too late.
The Orphan of Perdide
The Orphan of Perdide is the seventh novel by the French writer Stefan Wul to be published by the Fleuve noir in the collection "Anticipation" in 1958. Consisting of three parts divided into sixteen chapters, the novel was written by Stefan Wul in three weeks.

Stefan Wul was the nom de plume of the French science fiction writer Pierre Pairault (27 March 1922 – 26 November 2003). He was a dental surgeon, but science fiction was his real passion. Most of his books reflect that, showing a deep knowledge of scientific data. Pairault retired from dental surgery in 1989, but remained active in the French science fiction scene.
He published eleven novels between 1956 and 1959 and a twelfth in 1977. One, Le Temple du Passé (1957), was translated into English, as The Temple of the Past in 1973. His fame outside of French-speaking countries is instead due to the animated adaptations of two of his novels by the animator and film director René Laloux. Oms en série, which Laloux filmed in 1973, was translated into English in 2010 and published under the film's title, Fantastic Planet.
