The Filipino Family In Danger — Timothy Laws on The Dr J Show #110
Timothy Laws is a member of the Board of Advisers for the Alliance for the Family Foundation Philippines, which offers advice to the Board of Trustees. Alliance for the Family Foundation Philippines, Inc., popularly known as ALFI, works to influence leaders and decision-makers in Philippine society by providing them with accurate and complete scientific information and education, so they can foster and defend the sacredness of marriage; promote family solidarity; and protect human life in all its stages.
Timothy grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. He studied engineering in college, and after college, became a partner in a small businesses. He wanted to do something to help make the world a better place, and at the time, hunger and starvation were one of the greatest injustices in the world. He volunteered with an NGO that works to enlist the resources of the U.S. to alleviate hunger both at home and abroad. After a few years, Timothy met his wife through that work -- she was also a volunteer from the Philippines, who had come to the U.S. to study. They fell in love and married within a year, and lived in Pennsylvania and later California. In 1996 they moved to the Philippines. "We’re still here," Timothy says, "and we continue to try to make the world a better place in our own small way. That’s what attracted me to my wife – in addition to her winning smile – in the first place."

Mr. Laws: "Apologies, during the interview I stated that Prof. Pritchett’s paper showed that only 5% of the reduction in fertility was due to contraceptives, but I’m reminded by the paper that the actual figure is 10%."
