Prior to the revolution, Iran was ruled by an American puppet, the Shah, who abused his country’s oil resources for western powers. After the Shah murdered thousands of peaceful protestors, the Iranian people had enough and in 1979, they rebelled.

The American puppet was replaced by the Ayatollah who transformed Iran into a fundamentally Islamic country with a much harsher tone towards the United States. All sorts of problems emerged, like Iranian protestors kidnapped Americans at the US Embassy in Tehran. Was this situation really America’s fault to begin with or is it the religious philosophy that the revolution gave birth to? This debate is heated! Don’t miss out.
