The conspiracist mind exists since there have been humans around. And will exist for as long as there will be humans - and will for sure exist many years after myself and everyone watching this will long be dead and buried.

The difference is that the prevalence of conspiracist thinking can appear to be higher now than in the past - and one of the reasons is because we have destroyed a lot of structure without replacing it with anything.
