You cannot expect too much for just £18.95 but here it gets you a well made and nicely designed audio recorder with an LCD screen, ports for external mic and headphones, a range of accessories, and which also serves well as an MP3 player.
Build quality seems good but rather lightweight and perhaps lacking the premium feel of the much more expensive rivals. That said, in the box were the recorder itself, headphones, clip-on microphone, USB charging cable, and, remarkably for the price, a mini telephone recording kit consisting of phone line adapter, phone cable and audio cable. A well written but rather small and hard to read User Guide was also included, a scan of which I append to my unboxing video.
Using it is easy enough but some time will need to be employed in wading through the rather densely printed User Guide. Since I will probably keep to the same settings this is for me a one time job. After that, it is a simple enough matter to make the recordings and simple enough too to get them off the device by using the supplied cable which then allows the recorder to be mounted as an external drive.
I was very surprised to see the phone adapter kit included. This consists of a junction box with two RJ45 sockets on one side and an audio jack plug on the other. Plug the phone line into one RJ45 socket and your phone into the other and then connect the box to the audio recorder using the supplied cable. You can then easily and simply record both sides of your phone conversation.
Audio quality is excellent and the 8G built-in memory is more than enough for most users. That said, it is a pity there is no provision for an external memory card. It is a pity too that no carry case is included in the kit. The supplied headset is OK and does the job but for regular use, a better replacement will need to be found. This will be doubly true if you plan to use the device like an MP3 player.
All in all a good buy, but probably no better than the many similarly priced rivals.
