The Milgram Experiment 1962 Full Documentary
In 1962 Stanley Milgram conducted this world famous experiment to demonstrate that people are capable of horrific acts through the "Befehl ist Befehl" principle. Test subjects had to deliver increasingly strong electric shocks to a "student with heart complaints" (in reality an actor with sound recording), when he made a mistake. The vast majority of these subjects continued to deliver electrical shocks on the orders of the "investigator," even if the "student" begged to stop and then stopped responding. With this experiment, Stanley Milgram showed that people tend to obey authorities, even if it meant exceeding their standards. They were less likely to feel responsible for their behavior when commissioned by an authority. This experiment shows that the Befehl ist Befehl principle on which the WW2 war criminals invoked in the Nuremberg trial did not just come out of the blue.
