Little Witch Nobeta - Playthrough Part 1

Little Witch Nobeta, despite its cutesy visuals is a Souls-like game. You play as Nobeta, who goes into a castle with the goal to reach the throne guided by a talking cat. The story is pretty vague, much like in Souls games. The combat is also similar - you have your stamina bar, which is depleted when you run, attack or dodge. There's also a mana bar used for your spells, which are the primary method of attack. You can also charge your spells and unleash a powerful attack, but that takes time and you can be interrupted. Thankfully dodging doesn't cancel the charge. When you defeat enemies you gain soul essence which is both your experience and currency. You save your game at Goddess statues, which is also were you can improve your stats. One thing that is better than Souls games is that you don't lose everything you've earned upon death, so you can upgrade if you perish. If you use a cursed item (usually for healing) you will lose 50% of your earnings. You also have a counter which is performed by striking an enemy right before they hit you, but the timing may be tricky and thus it's a rather risky move. After defeating a sentient armour boss, I went into some caves where I learned the double jump and a new ice spell. It seems much better than your default since the regular shot is faster and the chant can target multiple enemies. There I found a ribbon girl boss who I decided to fight later.
