The Selfish Giant Phantasy by Eric Coates

British composer Eric Coates completed this fantasy for orchestra in 1925, with the premiere performance being given in November the same year at the Eastbourne Festival. The music is meant to be a musical representation of the story by the same name by Oscar Wilde. The original score was considered so difficult that the usual publisher Coates submitted his work to refused to publish the work. As such, Coates brought the manuscript to Boosey and Hawke.
