Louisiana Southern Belle Tells It Like It Is | Tara Wicker | The Dr J Show ep. 121
Tara Wicker is the State Director of Louisiana Black Advocates for Life. An activist and community leader in the fight for life, justice, and righteousness. Her conviction to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves has been the driving force fueling her lifelong passion for pro-life advocacy. It is her fundamental belief that in the fight for justice we must first stand up for righteousness, because it is righteousness that truly qualifies us to fight for justice.
Tara holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Public Policy Analysis and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. She served for twelve years as an East Baton Rouge Parish Metropolitan Councilwoman, and as Assistant Chief Administrative Officer for the Mayor of Baton Rouge. Tara served as Chair of the Metro-Council Finance’s Executive Committee and Chair of the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging. She also served as Chairwoman of the East Baton Rouge Parish Planning Commission and was a member of the Capital Region Planning Commission. She was an Executive Assistant for the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, a former United Way Board Member, Chairwoman for the Community Investment Cabinet and Co-Chair of the Women’s Leadership Council.
A native of Baton Rouge, Tara is a true pro-life, pro-marriage, and pro-family Southern Belle. She is the First Lady and co-pastor of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church with her husband Michael, a former Louisiana State Trooper, and business owner. Pastors Tara and Michael are in the process of establishing a Baby House for abandoned and neglected babies 0 to 5 years of age. Their dream is to one day open a Caleb House for at risk, pregnant mothers.
Tara and Michael have been married for 29 years after being high school sweethearts. They have six amazing children.
