Silent Hill 2 (Pt 1): Neo Starts Looking for His Dead Wife in a Town Filled With Naked Armless Men
One day, a man named James Sunderland recieves a letter from his wife, Mary, which beckons him to meet her in their "special place" in the resort town of Silent Hill, where they once spent a vacation.
Only there's one problem: According to James himself, Mary has been deceased for 3 years now, so it seems more than likely that the letter is a hoax. Despite this, James decides to travel to Silent Hill anyway to see who wrote him the letter and why. When he arrives at the town, he discovers it enshrouded in a thick fog, and it appears to be abandoned - a far cry from his memory of the vacation he took there with his late wife. Furthermore, when he arrives in the outskirts of Silent Hill, he discovers that the road leading directly into town is blocked off, with only a single pathway next to the road that still leads into town but would require him to go the rest of the way on foot being his only other alternative.
Deciding to take a a short break in a nearby public restroom to reflect on the absurdity of the situation he put himself in, James asks himself one question while looking into the dirty mirror over the bathroom sink: "Mary... Could you really be in this town?"
Exiting the bathroom, James decides to gaze out into Toluca Lake, taking more time to think over his reasons for coming to back to Silent Hill, while also speculating where in the town he should start looking if he wants to find Mary, or whoever masqueraded as her in the letter. He decides that the most likely place he should look is the park by the lake where he and Mary spent an entire day watching the waters of Toluca Lake.
With a destination in mind, James goes to his car, takes a map of Silent Hill with him, and goes on the nearby path next to the blocked-off road, and begins his trek into the fog-shrouded town of Silent Hill...
This trek starts innocently enough: with the exception of a young woman James encounters in a cemetary, there doesn't appear to be any visible signs of life on the path leading into town. The same initially appears to be true of the town itself when Neo finally reaches it, only for him to encounter a bunch of acid-spitting humanoid monstrosities that Neo can only describe as naked armless men, and none of them are in any way friendly to our poor widower or the man controlling him. With danger lurking around every corner, Neosekken guides James across town, gathering supplies and eventually coming across maps and a key which point him to a run-down apartment complex...
