Afro Blue (M. Santamaria), arranged for Zoom Rhythmtrak 234 and two guitars

I recorded AFRO BLUE in 1998 when I was really at the height of my jazz studies and woodshedding quite a bit. The video was first made ten years later, and for this upload, I remixed the audio which had gotten muddy in its transfer to mp3 format, and then edited the video all over again with iMovie 11. It really is quite uncanny how well this young lady's dance moves sync up with the audio track; very little editing was required, mostly just titles and pixie dust.

This arrangement was an experiment with quartal harmony, i.e. based on fourths rather than thirds as in most of Western music. (Jimi's coda of "Castles Made of Sand" is another example of this type of harmony you might be familiar with.)
