Sing With Me
Lyrics and melody composed by C. Noenaim
“Sing With Me”
I knew a girl
She’s a woman now
Grew up so early
Pops kicked her out
He didn’t want her
To speak her mind,
She had to leave it all behind.
She says,
“If I get knocked down,
I always will rebound,
And I’ll still sing,
I’ll still sing,
Yeah.”
She’ll still sing,
She’ll still sing,
Yeah!
She works all day and
has school at night,
And everyday feels
Just like a fight
She works real hard to
Make dreams more sure
And I just want to be like her!
She says,
“If I get knocked down,
I always will rebound,
And I’ll still sing,
I’ll still sing,
Yeah.”
She’ll still sing,
She’ll still sing.
Yeah!
How can she be
So soft and so strong?
I have loved her
For so long
For so long!
She says,
“If I get knocked down,
I always will rebound
And I’ll still sing,
I’ll still sing,
Yeah!”
Oh darlin’—-
Sing with me,
Endlessly,
Yeah!
Sing with me,
Endlessly,
Yeah!
Sing with me!
Endlessly,
Yeah!
Sing with me!
Endlessly,
Yeah!
This #Rock #Song is meant to be an expression of my admiration toward the many Middle Eastern/Iranian women who are bravely standing up for freedom. These women are simply taking off their hijab and/or dancing, but harmless displays of individuality or joy like these are not permissible under Sharia Law. Some of the women in this video have suffered severe consequences ie. mental and physical torture, prison, etc. When a system oppresses and destroys the people within it, it needs to end. #EndShariaLaw
We need to start a real discussion with honesty and sincerity. We need solutions, because Islam/Sharia Law isn’t compatible with Western Civilization, and that makes the issue more complex on multiple levels. Acknowledging this and many other self-evident facts could help us develop solutions more efficiently, and hopefully the process can take place without equivocations, obfuscations, or needless ad hominem attacks.
Finally and most importantly, it would be best to confront these issues from a place of love and compassion. We must demonstrate that we have something better to offer. Any attempt to #ChallengeIslam from a place of arrogance or superiority will be destructive. Most Muslims are very sincere and stand to lose a lot if they challenge or leave their religion. Many have lost social standing, their friends, their families, and even their lives. These are precious human beings made in God’s image, let’s lift them up in prayer because God loves them, and it only follows that we should also love them.
